Victoria and I happened upon the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We learned alot that day about the state of our Oceans and condition of the Oceans worldwide. What was of our biggest concern was the populations of large fish available. The number of big fish has diminished considerably over the last few decades due to overfishing. Below is a list of seafood that is acceptable and another that is recommended to avoid. The avoidance list is not because of health risks to humans, but because of the humans risks to the marine life, the populations in ocean life worldwide is dwindling. If we all take care to follow these simple rules, we can truly make a difference. Credit for the list goes to our ocean conscious friends at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We really took the information we gathered that day to heart.

The San Diego Zoological Society is another organization that we believe in. Surfrider is devoted to saving our oceans, not just for our recreation, but for all of the creatures that inhabit them. Sierra Club is constantly fighting to keep our forest available for future generations. I don't always agree with their politics, but they are making a difference. |
